With humble pride, I would like to share that Land Art has been awarded designation as "Best of Houzz" in the Service category for 2016.

The award is given by Houzz, the international online home-improvement professional and idea directory, based upon client reviews.  I am very honored to receive such glowing reviews from a number of my clients.

As the 2016 pruning and gardening season quickly approaches, I look forward to continuing to foster these gardens.  If you have a garden that could use some attentive care, please call me at 518.420.9908 to schedule a visit.  Visiting new gardens is always a pleasure!

Fall pruning

This last month has been filled with some of my favorite things: learning, pruning, and traveling to visit friends and family.

Mid-September brought a trip to Shin-boku Nursery, where my advanced practice of Japanese pruning began last year.  I toured some beautiful new Japanese-inspired gardens, spent time visiting the plants I pruned last year to see how they have changed over time, plus I received some specific training on pruning a specimen Dwarf White Pine (Pinus strobus 'Nana') with Deb and Palmer Koelb.  The level of artistry and  care that is given to each of the Shin-boku Nursery plants is so impressive!  I am so thankful for the time my gracious hosts spent teaching me about plants, gardens, and living a blessed life.

Following my trip to New Hampshire, I got to visit my favorite gardening friend and teacher- my mom.  We worked together in her garden for an afternoon and bonded over dandelions, sod, and soil.  It was another beautiful weekend.

I hope you all have a fantastic fall enjoying nature!

A healthy, airy, and dazzling specimen!

September brought a unique learning opportunity.  I attended a Japanese Garden Pruning Workshop sponsored by Sukiya Living Magazine (Journal of Japanese Gardening) at Shin-Boku Nursery in Wentworth, NH.

What an amazing experience it was!  We learned advanced pruning techniques and practiced on some very special  plant material.  The transformation of humble plants to stunning specimens was breathtaking!

The most rewarding element of the weekend was the time spent making connections, sharing experiences, and working in the garden with the select  group of passionate and talented people in attendance.

What fun to work with natural stone!  I've always admired all the stone walls that line many farm fields and properties.

May 10-11, 2014 I was trained in the craft of dry stone walling by Certified Master Craftsmen of the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain in a workshop sponsored by The Stone Trust.

I'm looking forward to applying this new skillset to some of our local walls that have fallen into disrepair or even creating new stone walls!
